Frequently asked questions

  • ConstructPC provides custom desktop PC builds, upgrades, desktop diagnostics and practical repair services, alongside a shop for selected tech, components and refurbished or pre-owned items.

Custom builds and upgrades are mainly offered across Northwich, Cheshire and the surrounding area, with wider North West availability considered depending on the job. Shop items may be available for UK-wide delivery where suitable.

  • The easiest way to get started is to send an enquiry through the Build my PC or Contact page.

You can share your budget, what you need the PC for, and any preferences you already have. If you are not sure what you need, that is absolutely fine — I can help guide you through the options clearly without unnecessary jargon.

  • ConstructPC is built around personal service, honest advice and carefully selected parts.

Every build is handled independently rather than mass-produced. The aim is to recommend what makes sense for your needs and budget, not to upsell unnecessary parts or push a one-size-fits-all system.

  • No. Gaming PCs are one option, but custom systems can also be built for work, content creation, everyday use, study, streaming, or a mix of needs.

The specification depends on what you actually want the system to do.

  • At launch, repair and upgrade services are focused mainly on desktop PCs.

Laptop repair may be considered in limited cases, but specialist repairs such as micro-soldering, board-level repair or liquid damage repair are not currently offered as a standard service.

  • Services may include desktop diagnostics, component replacement, operating system reinstallations, driver setup, BIOS updates, storage upgrades, graphics card upgrades and general troubleshooting.

Highly specialised repairs, including micro-soldering or advanced board-level repair, are not currently offered.

  • Yes. If you already have a desktop PC, I can assess whether it is worth upgrading and suggest practical improvements.

This may include graphics, storage, memory, cooling, power supply or general performance improvements depending on the system.

  • Custom builds are primarily focused on Northwich, Cheshire and the surrounding area, with wider North West availability considered.

Some items from the shop may be available for UK-wide delivery by courier where they can be safely packaged and shipped.

  • Where practical, local custom builds may be hand delivered by ConstructPC.

For suitable shop items, courier delivery may be used. Larger or fragile systems, especially those with glass panels, may be limited to local delivery or collection depending on packaging and risk.

  • Yes. The shop may include selected refurbished, pre-owned or tested tech such as laptops, desktops, components, consoles, accessories or other suitable items.

Availability will vary depending on stock. Item condition and any warranty information will be stated clearly at the point of sale.

  • Pricing depends on the product or service.

Custom builds are quoted based on your requirements, budget, parts, labour and any agreed delivery or handover arrangements.

Upgrade, repair and diagnostic work will be quoted based on the issue, the work required and any parts needed.

Shop items are priced individually, with condition, delivery options and any warranty information shown where applicable.

  • For custom builds, payment terms will be agreed before work begins. In most cases, payment will be required before parts are ordered or assembly starts.

For shop purchases, payment is required at checkout.

  • Customer-supplied parts may be accepted by agreement.

Please note that ConstructPC cannot guarantee the condition, compatibility or warranty status of customer-supplied parts. If a supplied part is faulty or unsuitable, this may affect timescales and cost.

  • Warranty terms depend on the product or service.

New components are generally covered by manufacturer warranties. Refurbished or pre-owned items may have different warranty terms, which will be stated at the point of sale. Custom builds are tested before handover or dispatch.

  • If something is not right, please use our complaints form so we can collect the details needed to review the issue properly.

Please include your order or reference number where possible, a clear description of the issue, and any supporting photos or files.

Complaints and support issues will be handled in line with our Complaints Policy, Terms & Conditions, Returns & Warranty Policy and your statutory rights.

  • Initial enquiries and general guidance are free.

For custom builds, we can discuss your needs, budget and intended use before providing a quote. More detailed planning, parts sourcing or formal build proposals may require an agreed deposit or payment before work begins.

Any payment terms will be made clear before you commit.

  • For custom PC builds, parts will usually be brand new unless otherwise agreed with you in advance.

If you choose to supply your own parts, or if a build uses any pre-owned, refurbished or open-box components by agreement, this will be made clear before the build goes ahead.

For shop items, the condition will be stated on the product listing. Items may be new, pre-owned, refurbished, tested, or sold as spares/repairs where clearly described.

  • For custom PC builds, Windows can be installed and set up if agreed as part of the build.

A genuine Windows licence can be included in the quote where required, or you can provide your own valid licence. If you prefer to install your own operating system, the PC can be supplied without Windows installed.

Alternative operating systems may be considered by request where practical.

For shop items, the operating system will be stated in the product listing. Some items may come ready to use, while others may be sold without an operating system or as spares/repairs.

  • Yes, where agreed.

For custom builds, we can discuss setup options such as Windows installation, driver updates, basic software installation, monitor setup, keyboard and mouse setup, and general first-use guidance.

Additional peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, mice, headsets or speakers can also be discussed as part of the quote where required.

  • Yes. If preferred, a custom PC can be supplied without an operating system installed.

This may suit customers who already have their own licence, plan to install Windows themselves, or want to use another operating system.
